A local favorite goal of many tourist trekking tours called Ruište can be found above Bijelo Polje, near Mostar. It is located some 1050 m above sea level and we will get there by 25 km long asphalt road from Mostar, through Bijelo Polje. Even if the temperature is unbearably high in Mostar, after driving for 30 minutes, you will find yourself in Alpine area within a cool shade of a forest. This magical mountain area creates a pleasant atmosphere and therefore it is no wonder that it became one of the most sought after locations of tourism in the area.
We will pass picturesque cottages and houses along the way and find ourselves on a trail going through mixed forest. Further well-marked trail will take us on a macadam road to a place that locals call “Čatrnja”. We will pass through an abandoned stone quarry, which is now flooded. After further trekking, we will reach a mountain lodge “Adnan Krilic” in Bijele Vode. It is possible to stay here overnight, but this should be arranged in advance.

On commencement, we will make our way northeast from Mostar, climbing the inner parts of the mountain Prenj towards our starting point Rujišta, a small mountain retreat locality on the south-eastern side of this magnificent mountain.
Prenj mountain is located in Dinaric Alps massif near Mostar, Jablanica and Konjic cities. It is considered as one of the most beautiful and most impressive mountains in whole Bosnia&Herzegovina and some mountaineers says that Prenj is not a usual mountain but kingdom of mountain beauty and Bosnian Himalaya.
Prenj deserved that title because of it’s diversity of mountaineering challenges, endemic species and beautiful peaks that is so sharp and elegant, white during the winter, dry and barren during the summer. On Prenj massif we can find at least 11 peaks over 2000 meter and highest peak of massif is Zelena glava (Green Head) 2155 meter high.

The hiking trip involves some sections that are at a significant incline, particularly on our way to the destination Bijele Vode valley( the White Waters). The Bijele vode valley sits at a height of 1450m above sea level in the central Prenj and it is a lot of drinking water sources here. This valley is named after the many streams that are predominantly formed after the autumn rainfalls as well as early spring as the snow melts. There is the new mountain house. Valley is sorounded with a beautiful peaks of Sivadija ridge and with Kamenac. From this house you can see beautiful mountains Velež and Orlinka , and also you can see the biggest peak of Prenj Zelena Glava (2155m a.s.l.). You will be mesmerized by the natural beauty and breath-taking scenery of this glorious place.
We will continue our hiking through Bijele vode valley, between Sivadija and Kamenac peaks, for about 1 hour of easy walk and we will reach the peak Prijevorac which sits at 1700 m a.s.l. Prijevorac peak provides uniqe view to the higest peaks of Prenj – Zelena Glava, Otiš, Osobac, Vjetrena brda, Kamenac, Taraš and to the Bijele vode and Lasni do valleys.
We will be making our way across rough terrain, loose rocks and gravel, damp vegetation coverage which can be unsteady and slippery. We highly recommend you wear proper hiking boots or sports shoes with non-slip soles and sufficient ankle-joint protection.
We will have plenty of short breaks to allow you every opportunity for panoramic photography. Along the way we will highlight the endemic vegetation of the majestic Prenj Mountain. Depending on the time of year, this hiking tour is known to offer spotting’s of various wildlife.
