Hiking: 3:30 hours
Availability : April 1' - December 15'

Join us on a trip to one of the most imposing mountains in the country!

Hajdučka vrata or Mijatov prolaz is a natural phenomenon on the Čvrsnica mountain. It is a geomorphological monument of nature. Hajdučka Vrata (2000 m above sea level), is located in the eastern part of the mountain Čvrsnica. It is a natural phenomenon of indescribable beauty.

Hajdučka Vrata (the Hajduk gate) has been creating natural conditions in that place for centuries. In nature, it is a ring of rock through which winds pass, and they are located on the edge of the Diva Grabovica canyon.

The western approach to Hajdučka Vrata is from the direction of Risovac and is easier than from the direction of Diva Grabovica. It is accessed by the asphalt regional road R419, which leads from Jablanica to Blidinje, 23km long. A signpost marked “Muharnica” marked a left turn on Risovac on a poorer macadam road to Vitlenica, 3.5km long. There is a ramp on this road to prevent illegal logging, but it is not locked now. The starting point of the trail is at the locality Vitlenica from the elevation of 1470m above sea level. The trail is 8.5km long and takes about 3.5 hours to walk.

What to Expect

Čvrsnica Mountain lies in northern Herzegovina and forms part of the Dinaric Alps. Its highest peak is the highest mountain peak in the whole Herzegovina region at 2,228 meters. It is the beautiful setting of this day hike, and the main attraction is the amazing Outlaw’s Gate natural monument.

We’ll begin the hike walking through the mountain’s endemic Munika Pine forests, passing pretty valleys and abandoned huts that once belonged to cattle breeders but are now being returned to nature. We’ll also pass by Lake Crvenjak before arriving at Outlaw’s Gate, which has been protected as a national monument since 1985.

After soaking in the beauty of the monument and peacefulness of the mountain, it’s time to head back. Our last stop on the way will be the Vilinac hut, a lookout spot where you can again admire the nearby mountaintops and river canyons.

Book now to complete a challenging hike in a place of great beauty and serenity, and pay a visit to a unique natural monument.

  • YOU WILL VISIT THESE DESTINATIONS:
  • Explore a forest of endemic Munika Pine trees
  • Magnificent views of lakes, mountains, and canyons

Excellent service and friendly staff. We stopped in Jablanica for breakfast, in Konjic for coffee and the driver always brought new experiences and beautiful stories about the places we passed. Safe and comfortable all the way is guaranteed.

We would truly recommend this hike with Boris! Only one day before we were desperately looking for a guide and Boris helped us out super spontaneously. He was super organized, picked us up on time, shared some interesting facts about the area, adapted to our speed and was a very pleasant as such as kind buddy to talk to and hike with.

We booked the walk thinking it would a nice diversion from the city. It actually turned out to be a quite challenging 6-hour hike, but could not have fallen in love with the scenery and the views more. Boris, our guide, was very knowledgable and very fun to have with us – thank you so much for the plums from your garden, the local liqueur and for getting us up those final hills. I would say that the web description could use bit more info, like – some of the hills can be quite challenging, so good fitness is required. It’s also very much a full day – we arrived back at 6:30, which was a bit later than expected as the actually walk is quite a way outside of Mostar. But, this was by far one of the most enjoyable things we did on our trip and we can’t recommend it enough.

Solo Traveller

I am a solo traveler, and hiking Čvrsnica has been on my bucket list for the longest time. I was super grateful to Boris to for accepting me as the only participant, and our hike was very fun and informative. I learned a lot about the local culture during the hike, and Boris was extremely accommodating to my speed and need for breaks. I even got an extra stop after the hike to look at some historical tombstones, which added another cool element to my day.

I totally recommend this agency for all your adventure excursions, especially the hikes!!! If I had more time I would hike Prenj as well.
