Ciro Trail: Mostar – Dubrovnik is a 7-day cycling adventure that takes you through the stunning landscapes, rich history, and culinary delights of southern Herzegovina and the Dalmatian coast. Starting in Mostar, participants explore the iconic Old Bridge and Ottoman–Austro-Hungarian architecture before following the historic Ćiro railway trail through scenic villages and the Neretva River Valley.
The journey continues to Neum, Bosnia and Herzegovina’s only coastal town, offering a chance to relax by the Adriatic Sea, and then crosses into Croatia to the historic town of Ston, famous for its medieval walls and exceptional oysters. Along the way, riders visit Ravno, with its local gastronomy and the UNESCO-listed Vjetrenica Cave, and Trebinje, a southern Herzegovinian gem renowned for its wine and cultural heritage.
The tour culminates in Dubrovnik, the “Pearl of the Adriatic,” where cyclists can explore its ancient walls, historic streets, and breathtaking coastal views. Combining cycling, culture, nature, and gastronomy, this tour offers an immersive experience across two countries, guided by a team passionate about the Ćiro Trail and its history.

Day 1. Arrival: Mostar, Capital of Herzegovina
Upon arrival, transfer to the enchanting city of Mostar. Time permitting, explore this historic gem along the Neretva River. Founded during the Ottoman era, Mostar features a captivating blend of architecture and culture, with the iconic Stari Most (Old Bridge) as its centerpiece. A symbol of resilience and unity, the bridge and surrounding old town were added to the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2005.
Conclude the day with an overnight stay in a bike-friendly hotel in Mostar.

We begin our journey along the enchanting Neretva River, departing from Mostar and passing the iconic Old Bridge. Our route takes us through the medieval village of Blagaj, home to the stunning Buna River spring and its historic dervish tekke. Cycling past local vineyards and quaint settlements, we enjoy breathtaking views all the way to Čapljina.
En route, we visit the historic Ottoman town of Počitelj, the “City of Stone,” with its fortress, cobblestone streets, and timeless charm. A picnic by the serene Neretva River offers a relaxing break amidst nature.

After check-out from Čapljina, we start cycling towards the Adriatic coast. Our route includes Mogorjelo – Roman Villa Rustica, an intriguing archaeological site, followed by picturesque villages and three historic Ćiro bridges. We skirt the wetlands of Hutovo Blato Nature Reserve, home to diverse wildlife.
The trail continues through observation points and rest areas, including the nostalgic old Hutovo railway station. After a picnic in Hutovo village, we follow the historic road to Neum, enjoying quiet villages, gentle climbs, and a scenic descent to the sparkling Adriatic Sea.
We check into a bike-friendly hotel in Neum, relax by the coast, and enjoy dinner amid the serene Mediterranean ambiance.

We cycle from Neum along the stunning Adriatic coastline and cross into Croatia, enjoying breathtaking sea views and charming stone villages with olive groves.
The route leads to the historic town of Ston, famous for its medieval city walls, centuries-old oyster cultivation, and salt trade. Experience local culture with a visit to an oyster farm, including tastings of fresh oysters and, optionally, regional wines and anchovies.
After lunch in Ston, we return along the scenic coast to Neum, where we overnight at a bike-friendly hotel, ready for the next stage of the journey.

Cycling through quiet landscapes and abandoned villages, we pause for lunch at a local restaurant in Ravno, savoring authentic Herzegovinian cuisine. The day concludes in Trebinje, a Mediterranean gem known for its relaxed atmosphere, charming old town, and shaded squares.

We start the day with a leisurely ride through Trebinje, visiting the iconic Arslanagića Bridge and then climbing to Hercegovačka Gračanica Monastery, which offers panoramic views over the town and surrounding vineyards.
Cycling through picturesque villages, we reach Ivanica at the Bosnian-Croatian border, where the Adriatic Sea comes into view. A picnic at El Paso Café provides a relaxing break before we continue along the Ćiro Trail to a local winery for a tasting of Trebinje’s celebrated wines.
We return to Trebinje for rest and prepare for the next stage towards Dubrovnik.

After a comfortable bus transfer from Trebinje to Dubrovnik, we embark on a guided walking tour of the historic Old Town, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Entering through the Pile Gate, we stroll along the iconic Stradun, visiting landmarks such as Onofrio Fountain, Rector’s Palace, Clock Tower, and Sponza Palace, each revealing the city’s rich history.
After the guided tour, enjoy free time to explore Dubrovnik at your own pace—wander narrow streets, visit markets, or soak in Adriatic views.
We return to Trebinje for an overnight stay, reflecting on the unforgettable sights and experiences of this journey.

We recommend that you hire a bike for your tour and will work with you after you book to help you to choose the best size and model for your ride style. If you prefer to bring your bike, it’s no problem. Please be aware that on some of our epic trips we charge a supplement to transport your bike box to our finishing location. If you have any doubts, please ask!
Insurance is not included in our tour packages. We highly recommend contracting travel insurance at the time of reservation with a company from where you are from.
