After exploring Blagaj, rejoin the Ćiro Trail and continue cycling along the stunning Neretva River valley toward Čapljina.
On the way to Čapljina, you can make a short detour from the Ćiro Trail to visit the 16th-century Žitomislić Monastery, one of the most significant Orthodox monasteries in Herzegovina. Dedicated to the Annunciation of the Mother of God, it stands in a peaceful valley along the M17 road and reflects centuries of spiritual and cultural heritage.
After the visit, continue cycling along the right bank of the Neretva River, passing rural villages and enjoying authentic Herzegovinian landscapes on your way toward Čapljina.
After arriving in Čapljina, cycle a short distance to the historic town of Počitelj, an oriental-Mediterranean settlement located in the Neretva Valley. This UNESCO-listed town offers stunning views and photogenic streets that reflect its rich history.
The fortress, built by King Tvrtko in 1383, once played a strategic role in controlling the route to the sea. The town beneath the fortress combines medieval Mediterranean architecture with Ottoman influences, creating a unique and captivating atmosphere. Počitelj is also known for hosting one of Southeast Europe’s oldest art colonies, making it a cultural as well as historical highlight.
After visiting Počitelj, enjoy an easier ride as you cycle back the same scenic route you took from Mostar, passing along the Neretva Valley and through the charming villages along the way. The tour concludes back in Mostar at the Capriolo Bike Shop, where you can relax and reflect on your day of cycling and exploration.
